Protecting Our Freedom at the Local Level
I’m running for City Council to restore balance, protect freedom, and make Longmont more affordable.
I bring a different perspective and worldview than the other candidates and a deep commitment to working respectfully through differences. My focus is on empowering residents, supporting small businesses, and simplifying the system so everyday people can thrive.

Top Campaign Priorities
Affordability Through Smart Stewardship
I’m working to ease the burden on families and small businesses by lowering unnecessary fees, reviewing rising property taxes, and keeping city government focused on what matters. Let’s bring common sense back to budgeting and keep Longmont affordable for the people who live and work here.
Empowering People with Flexibility and Trust
My goal is to unlock opportunity by removing outdated rules that stand in the way of practical solutions. Too many well-intended regulations now block everyday people from building, growing, or contributing. Let’s simplify the system and trust residents with more freedom to live affordably and responsibly in Longmont.
Unleashing Local Innovation
Let’s make Longmont one of the best places in America to start a business, especially local, purpose-driven ventures that create real community impact. By supporting entrepreneurs who solve real problems, we grow jobs, increase opportunity, and reduce the need for costly, less effective city-run programs over time.
Get to Know Me:
My name is Jennifer Jeffery, but everyone calls me JJ. Six years ago, my husband and I moved our young family to Longmont in search of more freedom, more community, and more room to grow. Today, I’m a mother of three, a small business owner, and the steward of a small homestead where I raise animals, grow produce and flowers, and tend to our orchard.
I believe deeply in the power of grounded, meaningful work, the kind that connects people to the land, to each other, and to a sense of purpose. But in recent years, I’ve seen that connection strained. Rising fees, expanding regulations, and arbitrary restrictions are making it harder for families, farmers, and small businesses to thrive.
That’s why I’m running for City Council, to help Longmont move toward local, community-driven solutions that honor common sense and keep life affordable. When we trust people, remove unnecessary obstacles, and support bottom-up innovation, we strengthen our city from the roots up.
